Retouching

Retouching is meticulous work. It is definitely not my forte, but I surely know how to do an awesome job. The client was very adamant that the photos I produced in the end had a natural; non photoshopped look. The model's skin was free of most blemishes but the MUA used a dewy finish as per the client's instructions. I normally wouldn't have liked to shoot with strobes on a model with a dewy finish. Unlike a matte finish it produces extreme highlights that appear on the pores of the skin. I accommodated the client's wishes by reducing the strobes output to the minimum and used a gold reflector to allow natural light to illuminate any dark areas. I prefer to use gold rather

than silver when shooting someone of a darker skin tone to compliment the warm undertones of their skin. There was a fill light strobe with a purple gel on the model's far left side which produced a tinge of purple in the shadows of her jaw line. The biggest retouch from this shot was the model's lips. As I was busy adjusting lights the model was tempted by the snacks the client provided to us. It wasn't apparent until post production but it was easily corrected with an adjustment layer to change the hue and saturation. I corrected the overall yellowness and choose a subtle magenta glow to correspond with the purple fill light and makeup.
